Files & AppsStorage
Find what is filling your disk. Remove it without guessing.
Storage measures your disk once and keeps the result. Everything else works from that: a map of where the space went, cleanup suggestions, a search of every file name, a duplicate finder and an uninstaller. Whatever you remove, you see the exact paths first.

Where the gigabytes went
One scan, then a picture. The Space Map draws every folder and file as a tile whose area is its share of the disk, with files coloured by kind. Prefer lists? Largest files, largest folders and file types are one click away.

/Users/sam/Movies- 1Scan once, refresh in seconds. After the first scan, only folders that changed are read again.
- 2Pause and carry on. A long scan can be paused and resumed, even after a restart.
- 3What changed since last week? Keep a baseline and see what grew.

Suggestions, never surprises
Cleanup lists the places that are usually safe to clear: caches, logs, temporary files, Xcode and package manager caches, project build folders. Each comes with its size and a plain note about what clearing it costs. Nothing is ticked until you tick it.

Build folders are offered only where there is real evidence of a project.
- 2See what grew back. Cleared a cache last month? Cleanup shows whether it filled up again.
- 3Protect anything. Exclude a folder once and no cleanup tool will ever offer it.

You see every path before anything moves
Storage, Locate, Duplicates and Apps all end at the same sheet. It lists the exact paths, in full. Move to Trash is the main button. Delete Permanently sits apart in a red frame and is never remembered.

- 2Some things are refused. System folders, your home folder, running apps. No permission overrides that.
- 3A receipt every time. With the result for each path.

Identical means verified
Files of the same size are only candidates. l/Activity compares their contents in full before it calls them identical, then suggests which copy to keep and selects the rest. A separate view groups photos that merely look alike, for looking only.
This is how the app shows itDuplicates · Identical files
- 1One copy always stays. Select Extras never touches the keeper, and the copies are compared again before removal.
- 2No false confidence. Unverified groups are labelled unverified.

Any file, by name, at once
Locate searches every file and folder name from your last scan. Type a few letters and the results are there, with full paths, sizes and dates. Filter by kind, folder, size or date, or switch to approximate matching when you only half remember the name.

Uninstall the app, and what it left behind
Dragging an app to the Trash leaves its caches, settings and support files where they were. Apps finds them, shows the evidence that ties each one to the app, and lets you decide what goes. It can also look for leftovers from apps you removed long ago.
This is how the app shows itApps · Uninstall
l/Activity can review this app bundle and selected related files. Embedded components leave with the app bundle; external registrations and shared data are not automatically removed.
- 1By evidence, not by guess. Only files that carry the app’s exact identifier are offered.
- 2Your data is your call. Related files start unticked, because they can hold documents and sign-in data.
- 3Homebrew updates, reviewed. Check and update cask apps when you ask.
07Honest sizes
What the numbers on this page mean
≥ means "at least"
A folder that could not be fully measured shows a lower bound, not a guess.
Two sizes
On disk is the space taken. File size is the length of the contents. They can differ.
Shared space is not attributed
Copies can share space, and macOS keeps snapshots. That space is shown apart, not pinned on a folder.
Trash is not free space
Removed items sit in the Trash until you empty it yourself.
